The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) has positively assessed the mayoral election process in 18 municipalities of Kosovo, while reporting any potential irregularities to the Central Election Commission (CEC), KosovaPress reports.

At a press conference, AAK presidium member Besnik Tahiri said that in the municipalities where AAK is running, there have been complaints regarding voting for persons with disabilities, which they have reported to the CEC.

“Based on the data from our election teams, the electoral process so far has gone well without any major incidents. What we have seen is a lower turnout compared to the first round of elections, around 21 percent. There have been some complaints from municipalities regarding voting by persons with disabilities, which we reported to the CEC. In recent hours, you have also noticed officials with state functions appearing in different towns, which in one way or another has an impact,” said Tahiri.

Tahiri called on citizens to go out and vote to contribute to democracy.

“Our request is simple: today is a festive day for AAK, a great celebration, a strong reinforcement and return of the Alliance. Let’s not spoil this very important celebration at this hour. We invite all citizens to contribute to democracy, because going out to vote is the moment to judge each of us,” said Tahiri.

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo is competing in the second round of mayoral elections in Gjakovë, Junik, Rahovec, Suharekë, and Klinë.
