The Kosovo Paralympic Committee and the Kosovo Triathlon Federation have formalized their cooperation to support para-athlete Fatmir Sheremeti on his journey to the “Los Angeles 2028” Paralympic Games. Through a memorandum of understanding signed on Wednesday, both institutions pledged to create the necessary conditions for Sheremeti, an experienced champion with international credentials, who now aims to represent Kosovo on the world’s biggest parasport stage.
The President of the Paralympic Committee, Njomza Emini, described the agreement not only as a formal act but as a testament to trust, patience, and hope. “Today we are talking about a path that has not been easy and still isn’t, but it is being built on will and hope. This agreement is for a para-athlete who has never stopped believing,” Emini stated.
On his part, the President of the Triathlon Federation, Naim Gashi, said this collaboration opens doors for all athletes with special needs. “Today is a special day. Fatmir is an athlete who shows great promise for the future and is also opening doors for other athletes to come. We pledge to fulfill all the obligations of the agreement to achieve the greatest success, with the ultimate goal of participating in Los Angeles 2028,” Gashi said.
“Today we are signing a memorandum together with the Kosovo Paralympic Committee, opening doors for athletes with special needs. As the President mentioned, Fatmir is one of the athletes who shows great promise for the future. We had a meeting a few days ago, and his will and preparation make us confident that we will achieve strong results in the future. Fatmir is an athlete who is also opening doors for future athletes, who will have open doors in our federation,” Gashi added.“To compete for medals, we need the President. I am addressing Albin (Kurti) directly: we need him and we need the government to support us financially because we have to work as a team as a state to achieve medals and future successes.”
This memorandum marks an important step for parasports in Kosovo, creating a platform for cooperation that aims not only for the individual success of one athlete but also for the promotion and development of the Paralympic movement in the country.
