Irregularities in the drug price list, acceptance of prices declared without CIP (Certified Insurance Professional), the pharmaceutical warehouse of the Ministry of Health, were the main topics that were discussed today in the Committee on Health, where Minister Arben Vitia was holding a meeting with the members of the committee.

Members of the committee from the opposition parties had some questions and criticisms regarding the official drug price list, which was canceled a while ago.

Regarding this, the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, promised that the prices of medicines will be lower than they are currently. He guaranteed that there will be no room for manipulation in the official price list.

This is what Vitia stated after being asked by the MP of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bekim Haxhiu, regarding the prices of medicines, for which he said that there has been a multiple increase.

Haxhiu emphasized that according to the analysis done, it turns out that there is an increase of 100 percent in some items.

In addition, Haxhiu addressed Minister Vitia asking him how it is possible to accept the declared prices without CIP.

Certified Insurance Professional (CIP) is a recognized certification in the field of insurance, which is offered by the Insurance Institute of America (IIA). This certification certifies knowledge and skills in the insurance industry and is spread across several different levels, starting from the founder (Foundation) to the most advanced levels.

In addition, Haxhiu asked Vitia how much damage was caused by the rain in the pharmaceutical warehouse of the MoH.

He cast doubts by asking the minister how it is possible that out of 60 million euros dedicated to medicines from the essential list, only one company will benefit 20 million euros.

Regarding these questions, the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, said that he was not informed that damages were caused to the pharmaceutical warehouse by the rain.

Regarding the purchase from the list of essential medicines, Vitia emphasized that the procedures for purchasing medicines are ongoing and that, according to him, patients cannot be left without medicines until the implementation of the law begins.

The MP from the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Armend Zemaj said that despite the requests, the list of the members of the commission for the official list of medicine prices has not been sent to them. Not sending the names of the commission members, according to Zemaj, is suspicious.

He said that Vitia has neglected the process related to the Law on the establishment of the medicine price ceiling.

According to Zemaj, Kurti should take measures against Vitia for these issues.

For these, Vitia said that all decisions are public and that everyone can have access to the list of names of the commission members.

Three weeks after announcing it, the Ministry of Health made a decision to cancel the price list of medicinal products.

In the decision published on the website of the Ministry, it is announced that there were complaints against the decision on the list and some of the claims were confirmed by the Complaints Commission. The complaints were related to prices on some products.
