Political parties have begun making public the candidates they will run in the local elections expected this fall. Of the few names already known, there are still no women to whom the party has entrusted the leadership of municipalities. Civil society is urging political parties to nominate more women in local elections, especially for the position of mayor. The participation of women in elections and their nomination to run municipalities is considered necessary, as well as the ban on the practice of family voting, to enable women to then seek the vote and prove themselves in the local leadership. The head of the Kosovar Center for Gender Studies, Luljeta Demolli says for KosovaPress, that the beginning of the presentation of candidacies has left her disappointed.
