Vehbi Miftari has announced that he has been relieved of his duties as head of Kosovo’s Mission to the Holy See following the acceptance of the decree by Acting President Albulena Haxhiu.

In a Facebook post, Miftari said that the decree marks the end of his mandate in the Vatican, describing the role as a lifelong honour, as he was the first head of this mission.

He stated that he leaves satisfied with the achievements, adding that relations between Kosovo and the Holy See are now fully consolidated.

Miftari thanked President Vjosa Osmani for the trust placed in him, citizens for their support, and the Holy See for cooperation and hospitality.

According to him, the two-year mandate was marked by continuous engagement and challenges, but was also productive.

He also said he is preparing to hand over duties to his successor, stressing his readiness to ensure a smooth transition so that the established relations are not affected.
