"We must stop the anarchy once and for all, because this anarchy has reigned for 24 years in the northern part. For twenty-four years, the Municipality in the north of Mitrovica has worked as an administrative office, it has not been functional and not even in the service of the citizens", Nexhat Uglanin, chairman of the Municipal Assembly of North Mitrovica, told KosovaPress.

He emphasized that there is dissatisfaction among Serbian citizens who are trying to change things through petitions, but emphasized that these issues should only be considered by respecting the laws of the Republic of Kosovo.

According to him, the relations between the legislature and the executive within this Municipality regarding various issues are full of disagreements, but as he said, this is a democratic way of functioning.

Speaking about the citizens' petition about the dismissal of the Mayor of the Municipality, Uglanin said that last Friday he submitted the citizens' signatures to the CEC and the latter has a deadline of 30 days for verification.

He said that if everything is confirmed to be correct with the petition, there will definitely be elections in the north, but he did not specify the time frame when they can take place.

Uglanin also added that political entities have started preparations for elections, but when they will be held, depends on the government of Kosovo.
