Turkish flag of Mitrovica iftar organization torn twice, now guarded by police
A charity organization from Turkey, which provides free iftar for citizens of Mitrovica during the month of Ramadan, had its national flag torn at the tent where the evening meal is served to those who are fasting and others, in Adem Jashari Square.
The incident occurred on Thursday, but this was not the first time, as a similar event had happened a few days earlier, according to a source.
The person responsible for the iftar service did not report the first incident to the police, but has done so for the second one, stating that the tearing of the Turkish flag creates insecurity for him and his staff.
He added that if adequate security is not provided, he may have to suspend offering iftar to the citizens of Mitrovica.
The case is being investigated as a serious crime, and KosovaPress has learned that the police have set up a static post at the tent for security reasons.
At the tent where the meals are offered, besides the Turkish flag, the organizer also displays the Kosovo flag, which, in neither case, has been damaged.
