The Social Democratic Party (PSD) delivered a debate invitation on Thursday to the offices of the Vetëvendosje Movement, even though its leader was not allowed to enter the LVV premises by the Kosovo Police.

PSD leader Dardan Molliqaj said the country has been left without an opposition, claiming that PSD is the only opposition party the ruling party “fears.”

Molliqaj said PSD invited LVV to a pre-election debate to discuss ideas, not “deals” as he claims they do with the leaders of LDK and PDK.

“In democratic countries, the government fears the opposition. In our case, we had a situation where the opposition feared the government, but as I see it, PSD’s path toward real opposition—not deals—is already showing results. They blocked our entry with the police. Vetëvendosje only fears the Social Democratic Party. As you saw, even officials inside were shaking. They said, ‘someone has arrived’—PSD has come, Dardan has come with media, I was holding an envelope. Imagine PSD in Parliament, imagine how they would look. They are used to opposition that has neither moral credibility, nor political courage, nor awareness, nor activism. I came today to challenge them, convinced and aware they are not ready. Kosovo needs debate, and I came today to invite Vetëvendosje to a pre-election debate on ideas, not deals like they do with Lumir and Bedri and others,” Molliqaj said.

He further said PSD would be the only real opposition party, and if they enter the Kosovo Assembly, they would not only go to offices but also to the government.

According to him, there will be no more formal or “deal-based” opposition.

PSD leader also announced that activities will continue and they will repeatedly invite parties to debate until they receive a positive response.

In addition to the debate initiative, Molliqaj said the party will also organize an activity regarding a statement by acting Justice Minister Donika Gërvalla, who expressed support for a claim made by former LVV MP Fatos Geci about the “Hague Four” of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
