In Tirana, everything is ready for the EU-Western Balkans Summit to begin, KosovaPress reports. This summit is the first that is taking place in the territory of a country in the region that is not in the European Union and has on the agenda the energy crises, the war in Ukraine and the migration crisis.

In this summit, Kosovo is being represented by the president Vjosa Osmani who will emphasize the need to accelerate the integration process.

"At the meeting of the leaders of the EU and the Western Balkans, President Osmani will convey the clear message of the people of Kosovo on the need to accelerate the integration process, starting from the overdue liberalization of visas, up to the support for the country's status candidate for the Republic of Kosovo, after the application", says the announcement of the presidency.

The arrival of the leaders will start from 9:30 and they will be received in Italy Square by the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, while the work of the summit will take place in the premises of the National Arena stadium.

It is the agreement on Roaming rates between the countries of the Western Balkans and the European Union, which determines the reduction of rates in the coming year, which is expected to be signed today in Tirana within the framework of this summit.

The leaders of the European Union will wait for the commitment of the countries of the region to common values and at the end the declaration will be signed which will be known as the "Declaration of Tirana".

This is the first time that Tirana welcomes the heads of state of the European Union and those of the Western Balkans.

Along the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard, flags of the European Union have been placed alongside the Albanian flag.
