The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has also addressed Acting President Albulena Haxhiu with an official request for the processing of the appointment of this party’s second member to the Central Election Commission (CEC).
The request emphasizes that the issue of the composition of the CEC remained unresolved during the mandate of former President Vjosa Osmani, and that PDK’s representation with two members in this institution is not a matter of political interpretation, but a right derived from constitutional provisions.
Referring to Article 139, paragraph 4 of the Constitution of Kosovo, PDK argues that the allocation of seats in the CEC should be based on the representation of parliamentary groups in the Assembly. In the current situation with four parliamentary groups, PDK considers that each group should have one representative in the first round, while the remaining seats should be distributed according to the size of the groups, thus ensuring proportional representation.
