The ambassadors of the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, France, Germany, North Macedonia, Greece, and the Head of the European Union Office in Kosovo attended today's constitutive session of the Assembly of Kosovo, which failed for the 52nd time.

The Head of EU Office in Kosovo, Aivo Orav, stated that Kosovo needs an Assembly and a new government, which he said would build a new bridge with Brussels to accelerate its path toward the EU.

He expressed that they came with great hope, but once again, nothing happened.

Meanwhile, German Ambassador Jorn Rohde described the situation as concerning, emphasizing that the political class is disappointing its own people.

Rohde described the July 24 decision of the Constitutional Court as a “red card,” as it suspends the Assembly from making decisions.

The Assembly of Kosovo failed today, for the 52nd time, to be constituted.

On Friday, July 24, the Constitutional Court responded to the requests submitted by PDK and LDK regarding the constitutionality of the Assembly’s decision to vote for the Committee on secret ballot procedures during the June 29, 2025 session.

The Court imposed a temporary measure that prohibits any decisions or actions by elected MPs related to the constitutive session after the expiration of the 30-day deadline. No further decisions may be taken from July 27 to August 8.

The 51st continuation of the session on July 23 was interrupted by the acting chair, Avni Dehari, who stated that conditions were not met to proceed. He did not put the formation of the secret committee to a vote and scheduled July 25 at 11:00 for the next continuation, KosovaPress reports. Through a ruling issued on June 26, the Constitutional Court obligated the MPs to constitute the Assembly of Kosovo by July 26. /Z.Zeneli
