The year 2025 has started with bad news for the citizens of Kosovo in terms of prices. According to the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, consumer prices increased by 1.5 percent in January 2025, compared to January of last year. While the monthly inflation rate was 0.7 percent in January 2025.

According to KAS, the price increase was mainly influenced by several main categories of consumption.

Compared to December 2024, prices increased the most in vegetables, electricity, tobacco, fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment, coffee, tea and cocoa, as well as other food products such as meat and fruits.

"This is mainly explained by the increase in consumer prices: vegetables 5.2%, electricity 2.8%, tobacco 2.5%, fuels and lubricants for personal transport equipment 2.3%, coffee, tea and cocoa 1.9%, meat 1.8%, fruits 1.7%, solid fuels, firewood, pellets, etc. 1.0% and milk, cheese and eggs (0.6%) and with a joint impact of these subgroups of 0.8 percent on the HICP", the KAS report states.

Compared to January of last year, prices have increased significantly for several categories of goods and services.

Among the products and services with the highest price increases are coffee, tea and cocoa, oils, as well as personal transport services.
