The trial against Thaçi and others is expected to begin next year

Former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army remain in custody in The Hague, against whom indictments have been filed for alleged war crimes. Conferences on the progress of the case against Thaçi and others are expected to continue in the coming days, and experts in the field of justice consider that the trial will not start until 2022, adding that more arrests are expected this year. While members of the Organization of KLA War Veterans say that so far over 200 people have been summoned by the Special Court.

Five years after its establishment, the Special Court launched the first arrests in Kosovo. Salih Mustafa, a former Chief of Intelligence in the Kosovo Security Force, known during the war as Commander Cali, was the first to be arrested by Special Court Investigators on September 24, last year.
