In our country, the law on organ transplantation has never been approved. Whereas the need for the approval of this law is considered to be necessary.
The MP of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, member of the Committee on Health, Bekim Haxhiu says that this law is extremely necessary. Haxhiu told KosovaPress that as a result of the lack of this law, many patients spend money to be treated abroad.
Dreshaj tells KosovaPress that the current government pushed forward only the processes that interest them.
Meanwhile, the Vetëvendosje MP and the chairperson of the Committee for Health, Fatmire Kollçaku, while asserting that it is more than necessary for citizens to have this service, says that they are waiting for the new health law.We remind you that the initiative for this law was taken by the former Minister of Health, Ferid Agani. In 2013, the former minister pushed forward the draft law on organ transplantation, which allowed operations in private clinics, but was withdrawn at the suggestion of internationals.
Even though some ministers have changed, the approval of this law is still in the process.
"The Ministry of Health, within the framework of the National Development Plan 2024 - 2026, has foreseen the drafting of the concept document for organ transplantation. For the drafting of this concept document, a working group has been established, which has drafted the initial draft and is expected to be finalized by the end of June. With the approval of this concept document, the way will be opened for the drafting of the Draft Law on Organ Transplantation, which is foreseen for the year 2025", reads the response of the Ministry of Health. /Z.
