However, experts on European integration say that despite the will of European parliamentarians, the main decision-making on the lifting of the measures belongs to the union countries.
On the other hand, official Brussels has not responded to KosovaPress on the request of the European Parliament to lift the punitive measures against Kosovo.
On Thursday, in the EP Foreign Policy Committee, the rapporteur for Kosovo Riho Terras presented his draft annual report on the situation in Kosovo and its progress towards the EU, where, among other things, the European bloc was asked to lift the punitive measures against Kosovo.

In this regard, the spokesperson for the Kosovo government, Përparim Kryeziu, in a response to KosovaPress, says that the measures have been imposed unjustly and are continuing to be maintained unjustly, therefore they should be lifted as soon as possible.

"We welcome the draft report of the rapporteur for Kosovo in the European Parliament, Riho Terras, which calls for the immediate removal of the European Union measures against Kosovo. This request now adds to the recommendation of the former EU High Representative Josep Borrell for their removal. On this occasion, we also reiterate our request for the removal of the measures against Kosovo that were unfairly imposed, and continue to be unfairly maintained," said Kryeziu.
