The Government of Kosovo has approved draft laws on the ratification of three additional protocols of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), including Additional Protocol 6 on trade in services, Additional Protocol 5 on accession and amendment of the agreement, and Additional Protocol 7 on dispute settlement.

Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Mimoza Kusari-Lila, said that the approval of these protocols represents a major achievement for the country, noting that for the first time they will be adopted without the involvement of United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo.

“This is a very major achievement for the Republic of Kosovo. It is the first time that CEFTA protocols will be approved in the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, as the Republic of Kosovo, without UNMIK. This has been made possible thanks to intensive work by the Kurti 2 government, and we have now reached a stage where protocols 5, 6 and 7, as additional protocols for all CEFTA member countries, receive equal treatment in all CEFTA member states. The ministry, in the field of international cooperation and trade, has undertaken initiatives for negotiating these three protocols,” she said.
