The government expenditures increased in the second quarter of this year

The Kosovo Agency of Statistics (KAS) reports that the Government of Kosovo spent 784.9 million euros in the second quarter of 2025, which is 105.8 million euros more than in the same period last year.

“Total expenditures of the General Government in Q2 2025 were 784.9 million euros, while expenditures in Q2 2024 were 679.1 million euros,” it says in the Government Accounts publication for the second quarter (Q2) from KAS.

According to KAS, the largest share of expenditures consists of: employee compensation (28%); social contributions and benefits (26%); gross capital formation (15%); and intermediate consumption (14%). The remaining portion of expenditures is distributed across other spending categories.

This publication also provides an overview of government revenues and expenditures during this period.

According to KAS, total revenues of the General Government in Q2 2025 were 972.6 million euros, while revenues in Q2 2024 were 782.6 million euros.

“The largest share of revenues consists of: taxes on products, which account for 64%; taxes on income, which account for 16%; and financial assets and liabilities, which account for 10%. The remaining portion is distributed across other revenue categories,” the KAS statement adds.
