The High Representative of the EU for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borrell, before the beginning of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the EU, commenting on the situation in the north, said that the representatives of Kosovo and Serbia must overcome this tendency to fight as it is not the way to seek the normalization process in which they are engaged.
Borrell added that the EU's foreign
ministers will discuss today precisely the situation in the north of Kosovo,
which he said is quite worrying.
"Last news, also worrisome, is Kosovo. We thought that the thing where overcame after the agreement, but once again, Kosovo Serbs answered to the arrest of the former Kosovo Serb police officer, with a lot of trouble in the streets, blocking the roads, and even throwing stun grenades at our police officers. This is not acceptable. I know that two parts are willing de escalate, and I am strongly calling the two of them to do it, but in this case, I was in touch with prime minister Kurti. Miroslav Lajcak was in touch with president Vucic in Serbia. These alterations of public order, this violence, are not affordable. They have to go back to the dialogue, they have to overcome this tendency to fighting, to creating blockades, it is not the way of looking an agreement, it is not the way to continue the talks, it is not the way to look for solutions, it is not the way to look for normalizations process, in which they are engaged", said Borrell.
