Today, September 16, in Kosovo officially begins the campaign of political parties for the local elections 2021. Despite the circumstances created by COVID 19, the election campaign of one month was considered a matter regulated by law and can not be changed. Local elections will be held on October 17 where citizens will be able to vote for the candidate, they will have for four years as mayor. Meanwhile, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there were recommendations to postpone the elections and a recommendation to shorten the campaign. But the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, after the meeting she held with political parties stated that in the absence of consensus of political parties there will be no postponement of the date of local elections and that they will be held on October 17.
