The Assembly of Kosovo has approved in principle with 68 votes the Draft Law that paves the way for the increase of the minimum wage. MPs from the Vetëvendosje Movement and the Serbian List voted in favor, while MPs from other non-majority communities abstained, whereas the opposition did not participate in the voting at all. Previously, the head of the AAK parliamentary group, Besnik Tahiri demanded that this draft law be withdrawn from the agenda. "It would have been very wise and professional and responsible for this law to be withdrawn by Minister Murati and for us to sit down and discuss the interconnection and voting we have done for the social scheme and move on. This is a legitimate and minimal requirement for all the debates we have had. This is not about any opposition and political position, but about the concept of the aspect of the minimum wage and social reform", he said. In addition, the MPs approved the Draft Law on Budget Appropriations for the Kosovo Budget for 2022.
