The draft law on the budget is approved in the committee, other issues are also discussed
The Committee on Human Rights, Gender Equality, Labor, Family, the Values of the Liberation War, and Petitions approved the draft law on the budget for 2026 between its two readings.
Six majority MPs voted in favor of the draft law, while four opposition MPs voted against it.
A debate in the committee was sparked by the proposal of PDK MP Sala Jashari, suggesting that the pensions of certain categories, including veterans, be equalized with the minimum wage.
However, MPs from LVV stated that these proposals would be reviewed during the budget revision next month.
In addition, PDK MP Artan Behrami requested that the committee consider the possibility of a visit to The Hague to meet the former KLA leaders who are being tried by the Specialist Chambers.
“They should also call those who have gone through this process to get their impressions regarding the violation of human rights by the Specialist Court,” he said.
