The Covid-19 pandemic was the reason for the non-implementation of the Law on Child Protection
Only nine Administrative Instructions have been approved by the government for the full implementation of the Law on Child Protection. The Covid-19 pandemic and the change of governments are two of the causes that influenced the complete non-implementation of this law. This was said at the Committee on Human Rights, where they met with representatives of the Office for Good Governance (OGG), Save the Children, and KOMF.
The Chairperson of the Committee on Human Rights, Duda Balje, said that the Law on Child Protection is being monitored by the committee.
Qendresa Ibra from the Office for Good Governance said that the administrative instructions that have entered into force are being implemented to a large extent.
She mentioned the pandemic and the change of government that have influenced the complete non-implementation of the law.
Further, Ibra added that there is also an administrative Instruction which has not been approved and is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Education.
Bukureza Surdulli from the Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection in Kosovo (KOMF) said that during the monitoring they noticed that the Law is not being implemented to a large extent.
