During a symbolic action by the group 'Not a Cent More' at the offices of the Energy Regulatory Office (ZRRE) to protest against the electricity price increase, 12 activists from this group were arrested, but their release by the police was later confirmed, as reported by KosovaPress.

This form of protest was held as an expression of dissatisfaction with the 15% increase in electricity tariffs. After this event, the Energy Regulatory Office also responded.

In a statement, it was mentioned that the ZRRE is aware of the concerns of citizens regarding the current tariff process, which were expressed today through the protest at the ZRRE offices. "ZRRE respects the citizens' right to protest peacefully, as guaranteed by the laws of the Republic of Kosovo," the statement said, according to KosovaPress.

Furthermore, the statement emphasized that the Energy Regulatory Office continuously engages in an open, fair, and transparent process in reviewing every comment from citizens and interested parties, ensuring that every decision is made in accordance with the applicable legislation.

"ZRRE is committed to an open, fair, and transparent process in reviewing every comment from citizens and interested parties, ensuring that each decision is made in accordance with the applicable legislation. Therefore, we ask for the citizens' understanding in not obstructing the exercise of the ZRRE’s duties within its mandate," the statement concluded.

The announcement regarding the electricity price increase has sparked significant reactions and dissatisfaction among citizens and businesses. The presidency has also opposed this price hike, but so far, the Government of Kosovo has not opposed the increase, except for requesting an increase in the number of blocks for consumers. Due to the dissatisfaction, another protest is scheduled for April 5 in Pristina, KosovaPress reports.
