The Municipal Assembly of Prishtina, with 28 votes in favor and no abstentions, approved today the proposal on property tax forgiveness in the amount of 75 euros.

In the session of the municipal assembly, in which neither the LDK assembly members nor the mayor Përparim Rama participated, the political parties agreed that the amount forgiven for the property tax should be 75 euros, and not 100 as was the foreseen possibility.

The Speaker of the Municipal Assembly, Nora Kelmendi, said that the forgiven amount will be calculated as an advance for the year 2024 to the taxpayers who have paid the property tax bill for this year.

This decision is expected to enter into force seven days after publication on the website of the municipality.

The mayor of Prishtina, Përparim Rama, had published his proposal on property forgiveness tax for the year 2023, where it was foreseen that any change in the value of the property tax from 2022 to 2023, from 0 to 100 euros, would be forgiven.

The Constitutional Court decided weeks ago that the decision of the Government of Kosovo to forgive the property tax, through changes in the Law on property tax, does not infringe on municipal responsibilities.

The increase in property tax invoices occurred after the general evaluation of land and residential buildings, which was done by the Ministry of Finance, Labor and Transfers at the end of last year. /KosovaPress/
