"Klithma" is the title of the book, which brings together eight testimonies that document the barbaric violence committed by Serbs against children. The book is said to contain stories that represent pain, innocence, and the dreams left unfinished by children.
This book by the author, Alketa Gashi Fazliu, was promoted today in Prishtina among family members, colleagues, and prominent public figures of the country.
"In my home, the war will never end, and you know what I am talking about. Day and night I confront the wounds inflicted by the Serbian barbarism on children, on young men and women, on the people of this land. I remind my children every day and every night how they should love their land, their blood, their soil. If you think that I may have done something and that I have strength of spirit, this is thanks to my parents who are here, who every day, every night, continuously repeated to me, my brothers and my sister that this is your land and if necessary you must even give your life for it. I hope that day never comes. Mother and father, thank you for coming from Germany… ‘Klithma’ is not noise and I do not want to make noise. ‘Klithma’ is conscience and I hope it will accompany us throughout," she said. The Ambassador of Albania to Kosovo, Petrit Malaj, said that this book is a testimony, adding that the stories are also a call for the future.
"The war in Kosovo began with children, and you remember the massacres of children that happened during protests. You surely remember that in Kosovo nearly 8,000 children were poisoned. This is the greatest massacre that happened to us and it was the first step warning of what would happen. The poisoning of children is a societal test: are we prepared to understand that the enemy will attack us exactly where it hurts us the most? Are we professionally prepared to respond to them and to dare to accept this and not be confused? We were very euphoric in the treatment of these poisoned children and unprepared," she concluded.
In addition to the promotion of the book, a photographic exhibition was also presented in the hall of the Albanological Institute, which depicts the suffering of children.
The book “Klithma” portrays the pain, trauma, and consequences of the violence exercised against Albanian children.
