The European Union's warnings that there may be an expansion of punitive measures against Kosovo, as they have said if it continues with unilateral and uncoordinated steps in the north, are being seen as serious by political analysts. However, they consider such a thing as a deepening of injustice in the government of Kosovo.

According to them, the measures are not a solution, while they emphasize that the opening of the main bridge over the Iber River is a matter of complete freedom of movement, the rule of law and respect for the agreements reached in Brussels.

The spokesperson of the Government of Kosovo, Përparim Kryeziu, tells KosovaPress that the EU and the US should support Kosovo, especially in the field of the rule of law and respect for the agreements reached in Brussels.

According to him, the closure of nine offices of the Post of Serbia which operated without a license and illegally in the north is a matter of the rule of law. Meanwhile, the opening of the Mitrovica bridge over the Iber River is a matter of complete freedom of movement and a direct contribution to the further integration of citizens.

"Measures are not a solution. Time has proven that the EU's measures against Kosovo have been unfair. They continue to be so as long as they are in force. Adding them would only deepen the injustice. On the other hand, the question arises, what measures did the EU take against Serbia, which after the terrorist and paramilitary attack declared a National Day of Mourning for the three terrorists killed in Banjska, whose leader, Millan Radojicic, it shelters and finances? We need the support of the EU but also of the United States of America, especially in the field of rule of law and respect for the agreements reached in Brussels. The closure of nine offices of the Post of Serbia, which operated without a license and illegally, is a matter of the rule of law. Meanwhile, the opening of the Mitrovica bridge over the Iber River is a matter of complete freedom of movement, the rule of law and respect for the agreements reached by Brussels in 2015, in addition to the direct contribution to the further integration of our citizens", reads the response of Kryeziu.

However, the political analyst, Albinot Maloku, says that the EU's warnings for increasing punitive measures should be treated seriously by the Government of Kosovo.

He adds that the Iber bridge should be opened, but in full coordination with Kosovo's international allies and especially the United States of America.

During this week, the last tests of the Iber bridge were carried out, as a step before its opening for traffic.

The international community has opposed the opening of the Iber bridge, who have requested a new discussion in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue for its opening.

Meanwhile, members of the Serbian community in the north protested on Wednesday opposing the opening of the bridge. /E.Zeqiri/
