The 20 percent of the signatures required for the removal of the mayors in the north is reached, the voting date is set
The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced that the verification of the lists of signatures of the petition for the removal of the mayors in the four municipalities in the north of the country has been done. The report states that from the accepted lists it results that in the four municipalities, that of Leposaviq, Zubin Potok, Zveçan, and North Mitrovica, the 20 percent required in the petition to start the removal procedures of the mayors has been met.
It was also announced that the most suitable time for organizing the voting process could be April 21, 2024.
The chief executive of the CEC Secretariat, Burim Ahmetaj, said that in the municipality of Leposaviq, the list of signatories contains 3 thousand 30 signatures, whereas after comparing with the data of the voter list, it turns out that 2 thousand 905 signatories of the petition are citizens of Kosovo with the right to vote.
He emphasized that in the municipality of Zubin Potok, the petition's signatory list contains 1 thousand 567 signatures, where after comparison with the data of the voter list, it turns out that 1 thousand 380 signatories are citizens of Kosovo with the right to vote.
In addition to these, Ahmetaj emphasized that the 20 percent required in the petition has also been met by the municipality of Zveçan, where 1,834 people have signed the petition. Meanwhile, after comparing with the list of voters, it was found that 1 thousand 714 signatories of the petition are citizens of Kosovo with the right to vote in Zveçan.
Also, in the municipality of Mitrovica, 3 thousand 148 signatures were collected on the petition list, where after comparison with the voting list it was found that 3 thousand 563 petition signatories are citizens of Kosovo with the right to vote in North Mitrovica.
In addition to this report, the members of the CEC have also approved the Electoral Regulations numbered 05, 08, 10 and 11/2024 as well as the annual evaluation of the work of the CEC Spokesperson. /Z. Zeneli/
