Thaçi responds to the Specialist Chambers on the November 28 session: Greetings on Flag Day
Former President Hashim Thaçi, expressing his protest over the holding of the session on November 28, has extended greetings to all Albanians on Flag Day. This statement came during the preparatory conference in his case at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers in The Hague.
Thaçi said that the session should have been avoided and expressed his hope that future Novembers will be celebrated together with all Albanians in his country.
"I welcome the holding of this session, which is why I am here today, because I am committed to respecting the rule of law. However, honorable judge, it is in the interest of this court to avoid occurrences here that are not allowed in other respective states. Like every nation, we Albanians have history, traditions, national and state values. I believe that scheduling this session precisely on November 28 should have been avoided. Holding it today, on November 28, for me and every Albanian, is an unpleasant surprise. Honorable judge, today every Albanian celebrates a national, state, and family holiday, because it is the celebration of dignity and national pride, where, like every free people in the world, they celebrate and remember. Today, every Albanian family, as well as the institutions of Kosovo, commemorate and celebrate. Therefore, I can only wish that Albanians celebrate November 28 together, proudly and with dignity. I believe that in future Novembers we will celebrate it together."
