The Vetëvendosje candidate for Speaker of the Assembly, Albulena Haxhiu, said that the Constitutional Court's imposition of a temporary measure after the 30-day deadline for constituting the Assembly is a call for reflection from MPs regarding the election of the Assembly's bodies.

According to her, if the Assembly is not constituted today or on Saturday, the only remaining solution would be new extraordinary elections, KosovaPress reports.

Entering the Assembly building for the 52nd attempt to hold the constitutive session, Haxhiu said that the Constitutional Court made the decision for a temporary measure on Thursday not based on the request of PDK and LDK MPs, but ex officio — which indicates the possibility of legal consequences if the Assembly is not constituted by July 26.

The Constitutional Court on Thursday ruled for a temporary measure allowing the Assembly session to be held from July 27 to August 8.

However, she left open the possibility of constituting the Assembly, even saying that there could be a session later during the day, or on Saturday, as a last option.

Speaking about the possibility of a governing coalition with the Social Democratic Initiative (NISMA), she said they are awaiting a response but that nothing concrete has been agreed upon yet./KosovaPress/
