Tahiri: The Assembly session on Thursday, no discussion on the issue of the president
The Assembly of Kosovo will meet on Thursday in a regular plenary session. MPs are expected to review a number of items, including several international agreements.
This was announced after the meeting of the Assembly Presidency.
AAK parliamentary group leader Besnik Tahiri said that today’s meeting also discussed the exhibition “Massacres in Kosovo 1998–1999,” where there were inaccuracies regarding wartime massacres.
“We addressed the issue of the exhibition. The state has failed here. Certain positions were presented, and we will regulate the future procedure of funding from the Assembly. This has been a very serious failure and omission that requires investigation and institutional handling,” he said.
Tahiri also spoke about the issue of electing the president, criticizing the Vetëvendosje Movement for neglect in this process.
“So the same pattern continues, everyone is complaining and shouting about how to elect the president, but there is no action from the majority, no voice from the government or the prime minister. Absolutely no format as in the past, it’s like going for coffee when it comes to serious topics, we do not participate. This is the direct responsibility of Albin Kurti. With 66 votes then and now, to give Kosovo a president. It makes no sense to take 1 million people to vote again because one political formation wants to take another institution, the presidency. They do not have 80 votes for president, they have 66 votes for government, let them enjoy it. To become President of Kosovo, you need 80 votes. To get 80 votes, you need an agreement. They did not want this agreement because they wanted two people from their own party,” Tahiri said.
