Acting Minister of Internal Affairs Xhelal Sveçla has announced that he has established a working group which, by analyzing all necessary legal, financial, and organizational aspects, will propose the modalities of an early retirement program in the Kosovo Police by the end of July this year.

Sveçla said that the working group, which held its first meeting today, will organize consultations, working meetings, and hearing sessions with the organizational structures of the police at central and local level, with the aim of identifying operational challenges and real needs related to early retirement.

“Within this analysis, the possibility of a gradual implementation of the program will be examined, starting from the age of 63 and gradually reducing it to the age of 55, in line with financial capacities and institutional needs. This process aims to create opportunities for better human resource management, increase operational efficiency, and directly contribute to strengthening public safety in our country,” Svecla wrote, as reported by KosovaPress.

Furthermore, he said that through this program they aim to build a more functional police force, more balanced in structure, and more prepared to respond to contemporary security challenges, while also respecting the contribution and dignity of every police officer.
