The demolition operation of 11 illegally constructed villas near Lake Ujman proceeded without incident.

The process of clearing the property of the public hydroeconomic company “Ibër-Lepenc” was secured by the police. According to KosovaPress sources, among the demolished structures were two belonging to the chairperson of the North Mitrovica Municipal Assembly, Ivan Zaporozhac, and his brother.

The Head of Planning within the Mitrovica North Regional Police Operations, Erduan Baliqi, said that no incidents were reported at the site.

“What we can say is that since the morning hours, we have been assisting Ibër-Lepenc. We are here for security reasons, while Ibër-Lepenc is carrying out its own work. So far, we have not had any incidents or problems. The demolition of these 10 villas here is currently underway and is almost complete, but so far everything has gone smoothly and there has been no need for us to intervene. We received a request only for today, while for the coming days, we cannot predict anything until we receive such a request,” Baliqi said.

The Chief Executive Officer of Ibër-Lepenc, Faruk Mujka, confirmed to KosovaPress that the operation is being carried out by the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure.

He said that the 11 individuals who had constructed buildings on Ibër-Lepenc property had been asked on July 3 to remove all belongings from the structures and vacate them by July 17 at the latest.

Some owners of the structures were allowed to remove belongings that could be salvaged without obstructing the operation.
