The leaders of Kosovo’s institutions laid flowers at the memorial plaque in the yard of the Government of Kosovo, as a sign of respect and remembrance for the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks in the United States.
The President of the country, Vjosa Osmani, said that today the victims of the horrific terrorist attack of September 11 in the U.S. were once again remembered and honored for the heroism of those who responded to this attack by risking their lives to save others.
She emphasized that on September 11 the world was divided into two — those who believe in the values of freedom and humanity, and those who believe in terrorism.According to her, Kosovo has proudly stood and continues to stand with the United States, not only to remember the victims but also to fight tirelessly against terrorism wherever it occurs.
“Together with the Speaker of Parliament, the Prime Minister, and the representative of the U.S. Embassy, we once again remembered all the victims of the horrific terrorist attack of September 11 in the United States, while at the same time honoring the heroism shown by all those who responded to this attack by risking their own lives to save the lives of others. On that day, the world was divided into two — those who deeply believe in the values of freedom, the values of humanity, and who stand together in defense of these values and in the fight against terrorism. And the other part were those who believe in terrorism and use the malice of terrorism to cause pain to others. Kosovo has proudly stood and continues to stand with the United States, not only in remembrance and honor of the victims but also to effectively and tirelessly fight terrorism wherever it occurs. We are proud to be unwavering partners of the U.S.,” said Osmani. Meanwhile, the Speaker of Parliament, Dimal Basha, said that September 11 was an attack against the values of freedom and democracy. He expressed that the Albanian people stand side by side with the American people and that Kosovo is grateful and shows solidarity with them on this difficult day.
“It is important to emphasize that September 11 was an attack on the values of freedom and democracy. Our Albanian people stand side by side with the American people, and we are very grateful and express solidarity with them on this difficult day, when 24 years ago about 3,000 victims lost their lives, among them also three Albanians. We stand alongside the shared values we hold with the American people for freedom and democracy and against any terror that opposes these values,” said Basha.
The acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, said that today’s homage is dedicated to the victims of the terrorist attack against the United States of America. He emphasized that this brutal attack not only changed international relations but also served as a warning of the great dangers that may accompany this century.“This is dedicated to the victims of the terrorist attack against the United States of America, when 19 Al-Qaeda terrorists with 4 airplanes killed 2,977 Americans, among them three Albanians: Mon Gjona Balaj, Simon Dedvokuaj, and Rrok Camaj, who are also victims of this brutal terrorist attack, which changed international relations but at the same time warned of the great dangers that await us in this century. Today, it is not only non-state actors but also certain states that practice terrorism. We have had the case in Kosovo, where certain illegal structures led by official Belgrade carried out terrorist actions in our country,” said Kurti.
The U.S. commemorates about 3,000 people who died in the September 11 terrorist attacks. In 2001, a hijacked plane first crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York, while 17 minutes later, another passenger plane crashed into the south tower.Experts say that September 11, 2001, changed many things in the world. These events triggered the launch of a broad U.S.-led campaign against terrorism.
