Short staffed at IFM, the toxicology lab operates only for sampling
Since December, when the samples of Astri Dehari disappeared, the toxicology laboratory is almost out of order. Meanwhile, during the month of March, the expectations are that this laboratory will be functional since the new director of the laboratories at the Institute of Forensic Medicine (IFM) has already been appointed and four suspended employees have returned to work.
In addition, IFM is also faced with a lack of staff of forensic doctors, as there is a lack of interest of young doctors in this field.
The deputy director of the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Ditor Haliti, says that the toxicology laboratory is operating only for emergencies, mainly for receiving samples.
As the main challenge for this institution, he emphasizes the lack of staff in all areas of forensic medicine.
