Citizens of Kosovo are heading to the polling stations today for the early parliamentary elections of December 28, which came after the legislature failed for several months to form the country’s government.
Voting is taking place across Kosovo’s cities calmly and with respect, while observers are monitoring the process in key areas and reporting tolerance and civic culture.
The Ambassador of Peace, Tahir Shabani, presented the observation itinerary in various cities of Kosovo, emphasized the commitment of local observers, and praised the calm, dignified, and tolerant voting of Albanians.“Albanians are voting with dignity, calmness, and culture. This is a message of tolerance, kindness, and solidarity. We have focused our observers in different areas of Kosovo, starting from Gjilan, Kamenica, Ferizaj, Viti, Pristina, and the Kosovo Plain region, Gollak, and Llapi. Then we will move on to Mitrovica, from there to Skenderaj and Peja, while for issues related to the secondary areas we will also be assisted by local observers. We will pass through Peja, then Istog, Deçan, and return to Klina. Where there is tolerance, there is Albanian urbanity and civilization,” Shabani emphasized.
According to data from the Central Election Commission (CEC), by 1:00 p.m. a total of 356,645 citizens out of 1,999,204 eligible voters had voted, or 17.84%.
