The Food and Veterinary Agency of the Republic of Kosovo (FVA), referring to a notification from the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), announced that during an inspection of a shipment of MDM chicken product, imported from Romania to Prizren, the presence of the bacterium Salmonella spp. was detected.

According to the announcement, inspections confirmed the existence of Salmonella in a quantity of 27.7 kilograms of chicken meat, as reported by KosovaPress.

“Immediately after the detection of this case, the imported quantity from the lot that tested positive was destroyed in accordance with legal procedures and food safety standards,” the statement reads.

The FVA continues to monitor the situation closely and cooperates closely with local and international institutions, as well as with businesses involved in meat import, to identify and prevent similar cases.
