Serbian crimes against Albanians, Hajdari: Indictments for trial in absentia will soon begin

At the beginning of next year, the indictments of the trial in absentia for war crimes are expected to begin. The special prosecutor, Drita Hajdari, said for KosovaPress that with the end of the legal deadline for the announcement in the official newspaper, the first indictments will begin without the presence of the defendant. In an interview for KosovaPress, she said that they have filed 13 indictments for war crimes. Hajdari claims that with only four special prosecutors it is difficult to investigate crimes dating back more than two decades.

The special prosecutor emphasizes that the first indictments of the trial in absentia are all for sexual assaults. The trial in this form happens for the first time in Kosovo and can be proceeded only after five invitations have been sent to the respective state and they have been announced as wanted for investigation in criminal proceedings for at least six months in the official gazette...
