The Office of the Specialized Prosecutor and the defense of Salih Mustafa have submitted their final files to the court. In the trial against the former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army, the final address of the parties will be presented in September of this year. The Specialized Chambers of Kosovo have announced through the official website that on July 21 and 22, 2022, Mustafa's defense and the prosecution submitted their final court files. In the judicial process against Salih Mustafa, the presentation of evidence by the prosecution and the defense has been completed. 13 witnesses of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office were heard in court, many of them protected and in closed or redacted sessions. While Salih Mustafa's defense presented 15 witnesses. At the beginning of this process, Salih Mustafa, who is accused of war crimes, pleaded not guilty before the jury. According to the Specialized Chambers "The confirmed indictment establishes that approximately between April 1, 1999 and April 19, 1999, in a detention complex in Zllash, Kosovo, the crimes of arbitrary detention, cruel treatment and torture were committed against at least six persons. Also, the indictment states that on or about April 19, 1999, and around the end of April 1999, a detainee was killed at that location." Salih Mustafa has been in custody in The Hague since September 24, 2020, when he was arrested.
