Rowing will be part of the Mediterranean Games Prishtina 2030, while Kosovo’s sports institutions have already begun preparations for the development of this sport in the country.
The acting Minister of Youth and Sport, Blerim Gashani, met with representatives of the Rowing Federation and rowing clubs from Prizren, Prishtina, and Decan, with whom he discussed the further development of the discipline, current challenges, and the steps needed to strengthen it.
According to Gashani, the Rowing Federation is in the licensing phase and is expected to be ready to contribute to preparations for the Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games. He emphasized that institutions will continue to support federations and athletes, aiming for Kosovo to present itself with dignity as both organizer and participant in this major sporting event.Meanwhile, rowing has been included as a core sport in the first phase of the Sports Program for the Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games, reflecting the importance of this sport in Mediterranean countries. Organizers say its inclusion will bring a new sporting culture to Kosovo, increase youth participation in sports, and contribute to the further development of Kosovo’s sports sector.
Through this project, Kosovo aims to lay the foundations for the long-term development of rowing, turning it into one of the new sports promoted within the framework of the Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games.
