At Kosovo's Vote Counting and Results Centre, the recount process of ballot papers from 185 polling stations has started today. This number of polling stations to be recounted is part of a total of 2,498, or 7.41% of them.

The spokesperson of the Central Election Commission, Valmir Elezi, said that the decision to recount these polling stations was taken to ensure that the counting process has been carried out accurately, adding that this process is expected to be completed within two days.

“The reason why the KQZ has decided to recount these polling stations is to ensure whether the counting process was carried out accurately in the municipal counting centres. In other words, the recount process will include 185 polling stations, whose ballots were previously counted in the municipal counting centres in recent days. According to the current dynamics at the Vote Counting and Results Centre, we believe that within two days we will complete the recount of all these polling stations,” said Elezi.

Elezi said they are ready to announce the final results of the June 7 elections, but will wait to see whether there will be any appeals regarding the administration of the vote count.

At the end of the recount process, a detailed report will be prepared regarding the findings identified, which will then be submitted to the members of the Komisioni Qendror i Zgjedhjeve for review and decision-making. Depending on the findings and recommendations, the KQZ will decide on the next steps.
