The leader of the Party for Freedom, Justice, and Survival, Nenad Rashic, stated that 95 percent of Kosovo Serbs are not represented by the Serbian List. He said that the MPs of this party form a majority but use methods of brute force against their own people.

He made these remarks after the session was interrupted, in which, through a draw vote, he again failed to secure enough votes to be elected deputy speaker, as reported by KosovaPress.

Rashic added that both yesterday and today he has spoken with many MPs, who are concerned that the vote may be unconstitutional.

“I spoke yesterday afternoon and this morning with a large number of my colleagues, and from all of them I heard that they have only one concern: that the vote for me is not in an unconstitutional form. As I said yesterday and repeated several times here, the vote for me, as also provided by law, point 67, allows one of the MPs to be nominated even if they are not from the largest party with the most MPs, and that is what I did. The vote for me is not against the Constitution, and not only do I say this, but I have also consulted with people far more competent than me legally, and they told me that this action is not unconstitutional,” he declared.

Rashic said he will continue discussions with colleagues from other parties but did not name the MPs.

“Even today I was optimistic, and when I came I thought this matter would be resolved, but we were not successful, so I will continue as I did yesterday, today, and tomorrow to discuss it with my colleagues, as you say ‘step by step’... There is no need to mention names because I have been in politics for a long time, so I know most MPs personally and have their phone numbers. I will proceed in a way that they understand it is not against the Constitution, which is essential. When they understand that it is in accordance with the rules, I am sure more will vote,” he said.

The leader of the Party for Freedom, Justice, and Survival, Nenad Rashiq, did not receive enough votes to be elected deputy speaker of the assembly from the ranks of the Serbian community.

Assembly Speaker Dimal Basha said discussions would continue among parliamentary groups and interrupted the constitutive session.

During today’s session, several MPs from the Serbian List were drawn for voting multiple times but did not receive enough votes to be elected deputy speaker.

On Tuesday, the process of drawing lots to elect the deputy speaker from the Serbian community began. The vote was interrupted as that day too, MP Nenad Rashic, leader of the Party for Freedom, Justice, and Survival, did not receive enough votes.
