Over 60 buses carrying citizens will depart from Kosovo to Tirana to participate in the nationwide protest to be held in the Albanian capital on October 17 at 17:00, in support of former KLA leaders currently on trial in The Hague. Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama is also expected to attend this protest.

This was stated at a press conference by Hysni Gucati, chairman of the Kosovo Liberation Army Veterans’ Organization (OVL-UÇK), who said preparations for the protest have gone even better than expected.

Gucati emphasized that the protest is being organized against the injustices in the Hague trial process targeting former KLA leaders.

“We have received significant support from the citizens of Albania, from Albanian institutions, and from the government. The protest is always not against the court or justice, but against the injustice that has been happening in The Hague for the past five years. We are almost done with the organization; we have two days left until Friday when the protest will take place. Everything has gone so well, even better than we thought. I believe the number of participants will be quite large, as we have over 60 confirmed buses from Kosovo through the three associations we are organizing with, and we thank the municipal leaders who have made the transportation possible,” he noted.

The OVL-UÇK leader also said that the protest has received support from political parties in Kosovo, including PDK and AAK.

“We have two days left until the protest, which will be held on Friday. In Kosovo, most political parties, including PDK and AAK, as well as the mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama, have expressed support. We have strong backing from citizens, especially from Kosovo, Albania, North Macedonia, Preševo, and Bujanovac. It is confirmed that Prime Minister Edi Rama will attend the protest; we are waiting today or tomorrow for confirmation regarding his speech. I don’t believe he will refuse to speak; it largely depends on his schedule,” he said.

Former Albanian President Alfred Moisiu, BDI leader Ali Ahmeti, and representatives from OVL-UÇK are also expected to speak at the protest.

It is worth noting that the Albanian diaspora, supported by Albanians from Kosovo and other countries, protested in The Hague on September 14 of this year.
