Mayor of Prishtina, Përparim Rama, has announced that the renovation of the Ismail Qemali school is expected to be carried out after the completion of several new school projects in the capital.

“We are currently building 10 schools in different parts of the capital. Three have already been completed, and we expect another three to be finished as well. These will then give us the opportunity to intervene in existing schools as well, because you know they are overcrowded due to the lack of physical buildings to meet the needs in other neighborhoods. A large number of students here also come from other neighborhoods precisely because of this issue. However, we are very close to completing the new schools, and once they are finished we will then have the opportunity to begin interventions in schools like Ismail Qemali,” Rama said.

He emphasized that the municipality aims in the coming years to gradually move to a full-day schooling system, improving conditions for both students and teachers. According to him, investments in education are ongoing, including the digitalization of schools and equipping them with modern tools.

Rama added that this year the major full renovation project of the “Ismail Qemali” school is not expected to start, but partial interventions and restorations will continue. He stressed that the plan is to carry out the renovation in phases, without needing to relocate students, also using the capacities of the new schools that are nearing completion.

According to him, once the new educational facilities are completed, overcrowding in existing schools will be reduced and conditions will be created for full renovations, including at the Ismail Qemali school.
