In the Turkish Democratic Party of Kosovo, they are expecting the country's institutions to investigate the incident of the Turkish flag being torn at the tent where free iftar meals are served to citizens in Mitrovica.

According to the party’s chairman, Ergin Kan, this is “a provocation by someone who wants to incite hatred.”

He told KosovaPress that such an attack is meaningless.

“We have also reported the case to the police for investigation. It is clear that this is a provocation by someone who simply wants to stir up hatred. There is no reason to attack the iftar tent, let alone the flag of Turkey, a country that has supported Kosovo in every aspect and at every moment without pause. We trust the competent authorities and believe that they will identify this provocateur and that he will receive the deserved punishment,” he told KosovaPress.

Meanwhile, the tent where a charitable organization from Turkey serves free iftar meals to citizens during the month of Ramadan now has a new Turkish flag, as the previous one had been torn.

The tearing, which according to an earlier KosovaPress report had occurred for the second time, was reported to the police the day before.

“The case has been initiated as ‘incitement of division and intolerance,’” announced the spokesperson of the Police for the Southern Mitrovica region, Avni Zahiti.
