The center of Pristina has been decorated with Kosovo state flags and Albanian national flags, one day ahead of June 11, the Day of Liberation of the capital, reports KosovaPress.

Twenty-seven years ago, on June 11, Kosovo Liberation Army units entered Pristina, marking the liberation of the city, just one day after the Serbian army and police signed their capitulation to NATO.

On June 11, 1999, Russian forces also unexpectedly entered the city, an event welcomed by defeated Serbia, but within hours these troops were placed under NATO command as part of the KFOR mission deployed in Kosovo under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244.
