Prishtina Municipality budget approved
With 33 votes in favor, eight against, and no abstentions, the 2026 budget for the Municipality of Prishtina has been approved.
The budget for the capital is expected to be around 150 million euros.
Earlier, there was a debate between PDK and LVV regarding the budget. In response to LVV’s accusations that PDK is serving Mayor Përparim Rama, PDK assembly member Leutrim Retkoceri defended his party.
He stated that they would vote for the budget for the benefit of the citizens.
“The budget does not belong to a single political party. As PDK, we have requested more transparency, more public hearings, proper planning, and everything is legitimate. Do we have proposals? Yes, but for us, principles are more important than demands. In this situation, when two political forces have clashed for months over the budget and many projects in Prishtina have remained blocked, we cannot continue to oppose the budget for political spite. Just because PDK did not win Prishtina, we are not holding a grudge against the city. PDK will vote for the budget, but for the sole reason of ensuring the budget does not become a bone of contention between two political parties,” he said.
However, LVV’s Gëzim Sveçla said he did not believe these explanations.
“I can understand Leutrim, as it is a difficult position to change in such a short period. I understand his need a little to deceive himself and a little to convince the Group members, but for the rest of us, there is no need. This budget is extremely important for the capital. LVV has not said it is against the budget, but it is against projects that go against this budget,” he emphasized.
