Coordination Meetings for the Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games Between the ICMG Coordinating Commission, the Organizing Committee (OCMG), and the Master Plan Implementation Company, RC Advisory Group Limited

On December 12 and 13, another important meeting took place in Prishtina, where the Master Plan for Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games was presented, covering the sports program, infrastructure, mobility, governance, budget, project management, and the legacy of the Games.

Julian Pace Bonello, Chair of the Coordinating Commission, emphasized that an agreement had been reached on a number of core sports that will be included in the sports program, adding that Kosovo is on the right track to be ready for the Mediterranean Games.

“They have concrete plans in mind, and I believe they will be ready by 2030 to host the best Mediterranean Games ever… Essentially, what will happen is that we have agreed on a number of core sports for the 2030 sports program. Now, the organizing committee together with their consultants will come to us and present these sports, including where they will be held, in which venues (stadiums/arenas), the distances, and such… I believe these Games will enhance the international reputation of Prishtina and Kosovo as a whole,” Bonello stated.

Meanwhile, the Mayor of Prishtina, Përparim Rama, said that through these meetings, Kosovo is demonstrating the steps it is taking in preparation for “Prishtina 2030,” describing the Games as a monumental event for the country.

“You know we are doing continuous work to prepare for the 2030 Mediterranean Games, ‘Prishtina 2030,’ a monumental event not only for the capital but for all of Kosovo, where we have the opportunity to show the world what a wonderful host we are. That is why it is important to prepare for these Games… We are discussing the possibilities of including various sports, around 22 to 24 different sports, which will take place in the capital and other parts of Kosovo. For sailing, we also have Durrës as part of the proposals for the Games in 2030. All these discussions, presentations, and decisions are part of the preparations for the 2030 Mediterranean Games,” he explained.

The visit of ICMG representatives to Prishtina marked another important step toward advancing preparations for Prishtina 2030.
