The Kosovo Energy Corporation (KEK) has officially opened the pre-qualification phase for the major project “Solar4Kosovo I Photovoltaics”, which involves the construction of a photovoltaic solar park with a minimum capacity of 100 megawatts. The project has entered the initial tendering phase, with the publication of the Invitation for Initial Selection for design, supply, and installation under the international FIDIC Yellow Book standard.

According to the announcement, this is one of the most strategic investments in the country’s energy transition, co-financed by the European Union (through WBIF), the German government via KfW, and the European Investment Bank (EIB).

“The plant will be built on the former coal ash landfill in the northwest of Pristina, transforming a degraded area into a modern clean energy production facility,” the announcement stated.

KEK emphasized that the process aims for full transparency and maximum competition, inviting local and international companies with technical expertise, financial capacity, and experience in photovoltaic projects to apply for the pre-qualification phase. The project is expected to create new development opportunities for the energy sector, the construction industry, and technology companies, while opening the way for international partnerships in renewable energy.

Tender documents, including participation criteria and application procedures, have been published as part of the Pre-Qualification Invitation and are available to all interested companies.
