The police in Gjakova are searching for the suspect in a serious murder and shooting incident.

This was announced by Police spokesperson Sheremet Elezaj, who said that this is currently the only person wanted in this stage of the investigation.

Earlier this morning, a person lost their life as a result of gunfire in the Old Bazaar of Gjakova.

“Early this morning, around 5:30 a.m., we were notified that two adults had been shot on ‘Vëllezërit Frashëri’ street in Gjakova. The police immediately responded to the incident, units were dispatched to the scene, and all necessary police measures were taken. One of the injured persons unfortunately died at the scene. His death was confirmed by the medical team present. The State Prosecutor also arrived at the scene, and in consultation with them, a case of ‘serious murder’ was opened, while the body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute for examination,” he told the media.

He stated that all necessary investigative actions are being undertaken to arrest the suspect.

“Currently, we are carrying out all necessary investigative steps to arrest the suspect and fully clarify the circumstances of this incident. What we can state at this stage of the investigation is that the person is known to us, we know this individual, and we are searching for him. So far, he is the only person wanted at this stage of the investigation,” he added.

From this shooting, one person was killed, while his brother was injured.

“The identity of the injured person is known to us. We are carrying out all investigative actions, including interviews. In fact, he is out of life-threatening danger. This is based on information provided by the medical staff treating the victim,” he concluded.
