The Kosovo Police has announced the planning and key phases of the police operational order "Elections for the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo," which is taking place today, February 9, 2025.

According to the police announcement, in order to ensure security and the smooth running of the electoral process, a sufficient number of police officers, primarily from the public order department, have been engaged.

Depending on the need, officers from different profiles within the Kosovo Police may also be engaged. "Police officers, according to the operational plan, have started working with 12-hour shifts, starting from 03:00, with the opening of command rooms, the transportation of sensitive materials from municipal warehouses to polling stations, and continued provision of security," the announcement says.

This operational plan includes four phases: the pre-election or preparatory assessment period, engagement in providing security during the election campaign, ensuring security during the critical phase on Election Day (Day Z), and the post-election period, which includes the transport of sensitive materials under police escort until the completion of the process.

According to the police, the first two phases have already been completed, "and now we are implementing the third phase, which is the critical phase (Day Z), and will continue according to the plan with the final phase until the completion of the election process."

According to police planning, the goal of this operational order for the electoral process remains: creating a peaceful and secure environment for all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, as well as maintaining order, calm, and public safety in the country during and after the election process.
